*Floyd looks to help White Sox sweep Mariners*

Chi White Sox (18-17) at Seattle (14-24) 4:10 pm EDT
SEATTLE (Ticker) - Gavin Floyd and the Chicago White Sox hope to
complete a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
In his last start, Floyd (3-1, 2.50 ERA) came within two outs of
pitching a no-hitter as he allowed just one hit over 8 1/3
innings in Tuesday's 7-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
It was the 25-year-old Floyd's second close call this season as
he held the Detroit Tigers hitless through 7 1/3 innings on
April 12.
"Gavin has got confidence now," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen
said. "It seems like nothing bothers him. It was nice to see,
especially with the team struggling the way we have."
The righthander is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in three career
appearances against the Mariners, who pounded Floyd for seven
runs in four-plus innings in his lone start against Seattle on
August 11, 2007.
Brian Anderson and Carlos Quentin homered during a six-run
second inning as the White Sox posted an 8-4 win over the
Mariners on Saturday.
Seattle counters with Miguel Batista (2-4, 5.66), who lasted
only 2 1/3 innings in his last start, giving up six runs in
Tuesday's 10-1 drubbing to the Texas Rangers.
