Colorado (14-21) at San Diego (12-23) 10:05 pm EDT
SAN DIEGO (Ticker) - Nothing has gone right for the Colorado
Rockies and San Diego Padres except the performances of Aaron
Cook and Jake Peavy.
The Rockies and Padres aim to turn the corner on their early
struggles when they open a three-game series on Friday.
Colorado has won back-to-back games following a 2-9 stretch.
The consecutive victories are the Rockies first since putting
together a four-game win streak from April 16-19.
Cook (5-1, 2.40 ERA) has been the one bright spot for the
Rockies and goes for his sixth win in as many starts on Friday.
The 29-year-old righthander allowed just two runs, nine hits
while striking out two in 7 2/3 innings to lead Colorado to a
7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Padres have lost four straight contests and
posted just a 2-7 record on their recent nine-game road trip.
The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, Peavy (4-1,
2.22) has carried his dominance into 2008.
The 26-year-old righthander surrendered just two runs and five
hits in 5 2/3 innings en route to a 7-2 victory over the Florida
